The commute
Downtown Brampton is about 37 km and 40–45 minutes from Erin Village off-peak; Mount Pleasant GO is about 34 minutes. Most Erin commuters head down Winston Churchill Boulevard, Mississauga Road or Highway 7. If you work from home a few days a week, the trade-off gets much easier.
What changes day to day
- Space: more house and lot for the money, and green space on every side.
- Pace: a Main Street with a 1946 bakery and a gastropub instead of power centres. Big-box shopping is in Orangeville (about 24 minutes) until the Erin Glen Town Centre opens from 2027.
- Schools: local JK–12 public schools with French Immersion, and a Catholic elementary school. They are filling fast, so check capacity. Schools guide.
- Insurance: our 2026 presentation estimates Erin’s average auto premium about $640 a year lower than Brampton’s (estimates only; get quotes).
- Healthcare: a family health team clinic in town; hospitals in Orangeville and Georgetown are about 25 minutes away.
