What’s actually planned
You may see marketing that says new schools are “coming”. Here is what’s on public record.
- Erin public elementary: the Upper Grand DSB has a designated school site in Solmar’s Erin Glen community and lists a new Erin elementary school as a capital priority.
- Hillsburgh public elementary: a school block is reserved in Hillsburgh Heights (draft approved December 2025) and listed as a capital priority.
- Catholic elementary, Erin: the Wellington Catholic board has identified a long-term need, with site acquisition pencilled in for 2036.
- Funding: none of these has Ministry of Education construction funding or an opening date yet. Until then, new-subdivision students attend existing schools, with portables and possible busing.
